Silent Film with Organ: F. W. Murnau’s FAUST, featuring theater organist Ian Fraser

Silent Film with Organ: F. W. Murnau’s FAUST, featuring theater organist Ian Fraser

Join the Central New Jersey Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) this October at Princeton’s historic Garden Theatre, where theater organist Ian Fraser will provide a musical backdrop to F. W. Murnau’s silent film FAUST (1926). Following the film, Fraser will provide a demonstration of the theater organ and a brief discussion on the role these instruments played in early twentieth-century American musical culture.

This screening is part of the Princeton Garden Theatre’s Annual “Garden Goes Global” Film Festival. The three-day festival highlights nine international classics from nine different countries on the big screen from Friday, October 9th, through Sunday, October 11th. Festival passes and tickets to individual screenings, including to FAUST, are available at princetongardentheatre.org/global.

Bring your family and friends as we look ahead to Halloween!

Although the film is not rated due to its 1926 publication, the chapter recommends a PG or PG-13 viewership or older.

This event will be presented by the Central New Jersey Chapter of the AGO with the generous support of the Centennial Millenium Fund of the New York City Chapter of AGO.
