Sono Fest, a two week musical event curated by noted pianist, composer and curator, Ethan Iverson, presents a portrait concert featuring the music of Scott Wollschleger! Iverson says, “Scott Wollschleger possesses an ear for fresh notes, and delivers them in a slow and almost terrifying manner: Morton Feldman meets Thelonious Monk meets H.P. Lovecraft.” This night will be one to watch, with the critics calling Wollschleger’s compositions a “small masterpiece” (The New York Times). Most excitingly, this night will feature the world premiere of Secret Machine No. 7, Wollschleger’s major new work available first at Sono Fest, as well as three more exciting New York premieres throughout the set. Bringing Wollschleger’s work to life are his close collaborators and notable musicians Karl Larson on piano, John Popham on cello, Kevin Sims on percussion, and Miranda Cuckson on violin/viola.
