The Sunday Opera: Strauss' "Die Fledermaus" with Gueden, Resnik, Kmentt and a Host of Others
It was a wonderful surprise when I once again got emails requesting what has become a New Year’s tradition on the Sunday Opera. I’m rather pleased to once again offer a European tradition on this week’s Sunday Opera (12/29 3:00 p.m.) as we prepare you for your New Year’s celebrations with Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus.”
The Sunday Opera: Giovanni Simone Mayr's "Ginevra di Scozia"
We’re turning to music of Giovanni Simone Mayr on this week’s Sunday Opera (1/5 3:00 p.m.) with a live performance of his 1801 work “Ginevra di Scozia.” The libretto by Gaetano Rossi is based on a story by Antonio Salvi that was used nearly 20 times in other classical works by composers such as Handel.
The Sunday Opera: Francisco Antonio de Alemeida's "La Spinalba, ovvero Il Vecchio matto" ("Spinalba, or the Mad Old Man")
We’re showcasing another forgotten composer on this week’s Sunday Opera (1/26 3:00 p.m.) with the first opera in Italian to be performed in Portugal, Francisco Antonio de Almeida’s “La Spinalba, ovvero il Vecchio matto” (“Spinalba, or the Mad Old Man").
The Dress Circle: Winter with the Musicals
“Calendar art” strikes again, and on this week’s Dress Circle (1/12 7:00 p.m.) we’re getting seasonal by looking at songs from stage and screen musicals that have to do with all things winter. We might not be getting too much snow in our area, but this Sunday night, we’ll have enough snow, ice, and cold to make every winter-lover happy.

The Dress Circle: Lesser-Known Songs by the Sherman Brothers
Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman were an integral part of the Walt Disney family where they were known simply as “The Boys.” Most people will recognize some of their songs like “It’s a Small World” and “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” but on this week’s Dress Circle (1/19 7:00 p.m.), we’re going to be looking at some of their songs from stage and screen with which listeners might not be familiar or know that they wrote them.

The Dress Circle: Programs of Christmas Past
It’s time again for the ghosts to visit, and this year, we’re being visited by some Programs of Christmas Past on this week’s Dress Circle (12/22 7:00 p.m.) as we look at some listener favorites from past programs featuring songs from stage and screen musicals.
