Halloween is looming on the horizon, and we hope you’ll join us on Friday for some devilishly good music for the season. Join Michael Kownacky from 4 – 6 p.m. for a playlist that’ll hopefully help you get ready for the evening ahead.
Our evening of seasonal music includes pieces about devils, witches, and a few ghosts thrown in for good measure.
Our devil dances include a few waltzes, a polka, and more from composers including John Williams, Steven Verheist, Joseph Hellmesberger, Vitezslav Novak, and Charles Williams.
William Vincent Wallace and Antonin give us our witches, both Amber and Noon, and our spirits come from two works that reportedly have their origins in Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Haunted Palace,’ the poem/song found in “The Fall of the House of Usher.”The works are Florent Smitt’s “Le Palais Haunte” and Geoffrey Toye’s ballet “The Haunted Ballroom” in a complete performance.
There are a few other pieces, but you’ll just have to tune in to see what they are because there’s got to be some surprise.
