The Dress Circle: Songs of Stephen Sondheim - Ensembles

With our last program in March comes our last program celebrating the work of Stephen Sondheim (for now) as we look at a few of our favorite ensembles from some of his shows on this week’s Dress Circle (3/27 7:00 p.m.)

We’ve decided that three or more performers will constitute our ensembles, and to that end, we’ll be playing songs from “A Little Night Music,” “Follies,” “Assassins,” “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” “Saturday Night,” “Company,” and “Pacific Overtures” in a program that we feel truly represents Sondheim’s incredible artistic diversity.

Some of our performers include Marti Ralph, Virginia Sandifur, Kurt Peterson, Harvey Evans, Victoria Mallory, Len Cariou, Mark Fowler, Eddie Korbich, Zero Mostel, Beth Howland, Teri Ralston, Steve Elmore, Mako, Mary McCarty, and many more.

Remember, these are some of our favorites, and we’re not suggesting these are some of Sondheim’s “best” songs because, let’s be honest, that decision is purely subjective.

If, through these three programs, we’ve missed some of your favorites, please drop us a line at dcsro@verizon.net, and let us know. If we get enough suggestions from our listeners, we’ll happily present a program of their songs (if we own copies of them) in an all-listeners’ favorites program.
