The Dress Circle: Daddy and His Variations

We excel at “calendar art,” so for Father’s Day, this week’s Dress Circle (6/18 7:00 p.m.) looks at Daddy and His Variations through songs from the musicals.

Our “daddy” songs come from shows and films like “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Ragtime,” and “Gentlemen Marry Brunettes.”

For the “poppas” of the group, we’ve got songs from “Two by Two,” “Yentl,” and “Starlight Express.”

We’ll hear about some “papas” through “Shenandoah,” “High Button Shoes,” and “The Perils of Pauline.”

Finally, it’s time for “father” himself, and for these, we’ve turned to “I Do! I Do!,” “The DragonSlayers,” “Baby,” and “Closer than Ever.”

Whether or not you’re a father, you can still enjoy this widely varying collection of songs celebrating the many different aspects of fatherhood.
