While cleaning, we came across an idea for a program which we started some time ago, and we thought it was about time that we presented it, so on this week’s Dress Circle (9/17 7:00 p.m.), we’ll be looking at some title songs, but the catch is that they come from musicals with one-word titles.
As always, we have a collection of better-known and unfamiliar works.
You’re sure to know Jerry Herman’s “Mame,” Lionel Bart’s “Oliver!,” and Jeff Lynne and John Farrar’s “Xanadu,” but we have others that aren’t that familiar.
Those shows include “Sherry!,” “Christine,” “Purlie,” “Sugar,” “Sarafina!,” and “Irene.” We’re going off-Broadway with the delightful “Cowgirls,” up to Boston for the legendary failure “Prettybelle,” and even heading over to London for the “interesting” “Bernadette.”
This is not a complete list, but you’ll just have to tune in to hear what the rest are. Join us for a bit of fun and an hour of excellent performances.
