We’ve spanned 116 of musical history on this week’s Dress Circle (2/4 7:00 p.m.) as we look at songs from a dozen musicals that opened on Broadway in February.
We’re beginning with a George M. Cohan musical entitled “50 Miles from Boston” featuring the man himself, so we’re offering you the chance to hear what one of the most popular performers of the beginning of the 20th century. Our most recent show opened in 2022 as we have no musical openings in February of 2023 or 2024. The show from 2022 we’re featuring this year is the hit that transferred from London’s West End, “MJ The Musical” about and featuring songs from the career of Michael Jackson.
As always, the rest of our playlist includes songs from well-known shows such as “Wonderful Town,” “Crazy for You,” “A Little Night Music,” and “On the Twentieth Century.”
Of course, we wouldn’t feel right unless we included some shows that may be new to you like “Rio Rita,” “Redhead,” and “Baker Street.”
