The Dress Circle: Songs by Livingston and Evans

There are many composers whose works you may immediately recognize but whose names you may not find familiar at all. On this week’s Dress Circle (5/12 7:00 p.m.), we’re going to look at just a few songs from the career of one of those composing teams: Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.

The seventeen songs we’ve programmed include the three for which they won Best Song Academy Awards. We’re not going to tell you what they are so that you have to tune in on Sunday to find out what they are, but we guarantee you’ll know them.

You’re sure to know many of the other songs we’re featuring, and they’ll come from films and Broadway shows like, “Dear Heart,” “Red Garters,” “Houseboat,” “Aaron Slick from Pumpkin’ Crick,” “Secrets of a Co-Ed,” “Let It Ride!,” and “Oh Captain!”

Our vocalists include many well-known performers like Dinah Shore, Bob Hope, Debbie Reynolds, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney, George Gobel, and Carmen Miranda just to name a few.

We’re also promising an interesting version of a television theme you’re sure to know as well.

It’s another fun program that’s sure to jog a few memories, so we hope you’ll join us.
