It is said that “April showers bring May flowers,” and we certainly had enough showers in April! With that in mind, the abundance of May flowers has prompted another calendar art program on The Dress Circle this week (5/19 7:00 p.m.).
Our May Flowers program features fourteen songs from stage and screen that include daisies, lilacs, violets, a bunch of roses, and gardens in general. OK, so some of the flowers are more human than botanical, but a flower in name is alright in our book.
Some of the shows include “Pal Joey,” “I Do! I Do!,” “Mack & Mabel,” “and “Bye Bye Birdie.” The shows that may be new to you include “Love Life” by Weill and Lerner, the unproduced “Dilly” by Lawrence, Lee, and Duke, “Perchance to Dream” by Ivor Novello, and “Tenderloin” by Bock and Harnick.
Some of our vocalists include Robert Preston, Richard Tauber, Chita Rivera, Sandy Stewart, Rita Gardner, Ron Raines, and more.
Flowers or no flowers, it’s an hour of excellent performances that we think will make for a pleasant evening.
