We’re going where the “neon lights are bright” and “there’s magic in the air” on this week’s Dress Circle (6/29 7:00 p.m.) as we look at songs about Broadway from stage and screen. Even though a great deal of music has been written about being on the stage and theatres, we decided to limit it to only those songs that expressly mention “Broadway” in their titles.
We had fun looking through our collection to find these songs, and we were happy when we were able to find songs from both familiar and unfamiliar works once again.
Those better-known musicals include “42nd Street,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Street Scene,” “Dames at Sea,” and “Follies.”
“Mr. Wonderful,” “70, Girls, 70,” “Manhattan Mary,” “Little Johnny Jones,” and “Two’s Company” are some of the shows that aren’t as well-known or have been pretty much forgotten that we’re also including.
We’re offering another themed show that’s very close to home for us and one that we think you’ll find interesting, so we hope you’ll tune in this week.
