Even though the winter hasn’t been too awful for our section of the country, I’m still hearing many people moaning that they want spring. With that in mind, on this week’s Dress Circle (1/11 7:00 p.m.) we’re going to jump ahead to March (when the spring equinox hits) with some Marches from the Musicals.
We’re not going to be looking only at the “self-proclaimed” marches. Instead, we’re adding songs that make one, well, want to march!
Along with “Seventy-Six Trombones” from “The Music Man,” “I Ain’t Down Yet” from “The Unsinkable Molly Brown,” “Follow the Fold” from “Guys and Dolls,” and “Hey, Look Me Over,” from “Wildcat,” we’ll also be looking to musicals like “Oliver!”, “Hello, Dolly!”, “Mrs. Santa Claus,” “Louisiana Purchase,” and “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue” along with several others for marches that are sure to get your toes tapping.
We’ll also head back to some older musicals such as “Strike Up the Band” and “The Desert Song” as well as a film or two such as “Jupiter’s Darling” and “It’s Always Fair Weather.”
