Can you believe it’s July already? (We’ve heard that just about every month so far.) Well, it is. July always seems to come around about this time of year, and to celebrate that certainty on the Dress Circle (7/5 7:00 p.m.), we’re going to be sampling a few of the shows that opened in New York this month through overtures and opening numbers.
Once again, we’ve tried to program some well-known works along with some that have been unfortunately forgotten. By looking at the overtures and opening numbers, we’re hoping to give listeners a better idea of how the overall musical sounded.
Our better-known musicals include “Hair,” “A Chorus Line,” “Cats,” and “Guys and Dolls.”
Some of the lesser-known pieces come from “Two on the Aisle,” “The Frogs,” “Miss Liberty,” and “The Bohemian Girl” (which appeared on Broadway 16 times!)
There are a few others, but you’ll just have to tune in to see what they are!
Join us this Sunday for another hour of excellent music that will hopefully introduce you to a few musicals with which you might not be that familiar.
