In “The Prates of Penzance,” Kate sings: “Let us shut our eyes and talk about the weather” in order to avoid a “complication.” On this week’s Dress Circle (8/2 7:00 p.m.), we’ll approach the weather with eyes wide open as we look at the recent spate of storms the easter seaboard has been facing this summer.
Although the west coast has been dry and hot, we’ve had more thunderstorms than most of us remember having in recent memory.
To that end, we’ve programmed thirteen storms from stage and screen this week, and they include musicals, film musicals, and instrumentals.
Our stage musicals being visited include “The Little Mermaid,” “Celebration,” “Some Like It Hot,” “King Mackerel,” “The Challenge,” and “Marie Christine.”
While visiting some film scores, we’ll hear pieces from “An American Tale,” “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth,” and “Stormy Weather.”
Rounding out our time together we’ve got excellent and varied pieces from “Moby Dick,” “Chippy,” and even a turn from Cirque du Soliel’s “Ka.”
Let’s definitely talk about the weather this week, and we promise that these musicals storms are dry, safe, and very entertaining.
