The Dress Circle: "Instrumentalized" Broadway

Some musicals transcend their stage lives through various means, and we’re going to be looking at one of those incarnations on this week’s Dress Circle (12/8 7:00 p.m.) when we sample some “instrumentalized” scores.  These symphonic suites come from Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd” and “Pacific Overtures,” “Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Cats,” Stephen Flaherty’s score for “Ragtime,” and Richard Rodgers’ music for “South Pacific.”   We promise you a relaxing hour of unfamiliar familiar music this week if you need a rest from all of the holiday festivities…
