The Dress Circle: Christmas from Broadway and Hollywood

We’re back to basics on this week’s Dress Circle (12/25 7:00 p.m.). Take a break from your festivities for a quiet hour of wonderful music for Christmas from Broadway and Hollywood.

On the Hollywood side, we’ve chosen some favorites such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” from “Meet Me in St. Louis,” “One More Sleep Till Christmas” from The Muppets: A Christmas Carol,” and “When Christmas Comes to Town” from “The Polar Express” as well as an unfamiliar Bing Crosby song from “Say One for Me” entitled “The Secret of Christmas.”

On the stage side, we’re starting with “Mame” and “We Need a Little Christmas.” From there, we’ve got “Be a Santa” from “Subways Are for Sleeping,” “That’s What I Want for Christmas” from “Pickwick,” and “Merry Almost Christmas” from “A Year with Frog and Toad.”

Some of the songs that may be new to you include “Christmas Gifts” from the stage musical version of “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “The Bells of Christmas” from “The Santa Clause.” One that will be somewhat familiar under another name is “Pine Cones and Holly Berries” from “Here’s Love.” There are more, but you’ll just have to tune in to find out what they are and from whence they come!

Give yourself a present this Christmas evening with an hour of familiar and unfamiliar songs about the holiday.
