“More, more, more…” We’ll have some of the same on this week’s Dress Circle (1/29 7:00 p.m.) with another look at bonus tracks from CDs of musicals from stage and television.
Some of the more familiar sources include Leonard Bernstein’s “Wonderful Town” and “On the Town.” Lerner and Loewe’s “My Fair Lady,” and Adler and Ross’ “The Pajama Game.”
Songs from unfamiliar sources come from the CDs for the television musicals “Ruggles of Redgap” and “Little Women.”
However, and here’s the wonderful rub, the bonus tracks may just not be from these shows. For instance, the bonus track we’ve chosen from “Ruggles of Red Gap” comes from a Mary Rodgers television musical we didn’t know titled “Feathertop,” so there will be surprises.
We’re very happy to be playing three songs from the resetting of Wright and Forrest’s “Kismet” for an all-black cast, and even though “Timbuktu!” ran for 221 performances and starred such wonderful performers as Eartha Kitt, no real cast album was released. These songs were part of a two CD studio cast of “Kismet,” and they make us wish we had the entire score.
This week’s program is sure to please, and we hope you’ll join us.
