We’re following up on an earlier program on this week’s Dress Circle (6/21 7:00 p.m.) with a program we’ve titled “Songs of Inspiration, Determination, and Hope. The previous program was in April which has been dubbed the “Month of Hope,” and that program contained an entirely different playlist of songs with “hope” in the title. This time, the songs offer inspiration and hope for characters and listeners, as well as show determination to overcome adversity. We believe that these are things that are truly needed just now.
Our playlist includes ten musicals because, apparently, it takes a bit longer than usual to inspire hope in some people. The hopeful songs come from musicals like “The Secret Garden” and “Dear Evan Hansen.”
Our “inspirational songs” are represented in “Newsies” and “Into the Woods.”
“Determination” can be found in songs from “Wicked” and “Merrily We Roll Along.”
There are more, but you’ll have to tune in to hear what we’ve chosen and ultimately had time to include.
Everyone can use a little hope and inspiration from time to time, and this week, we’ll see how that has been handled in a few of the Broadway musicals that are loved my many.
