The Dress Circle: The Bells! The Bells!

There are many things associated with celebrations and observances, but one that seems to come to the forefront is a bell. Bells are rung for weddings, funerals, “festive cheer,” to bring people together, and to summon help. We’re going to look at some “musical” bells on this week’s Dress Circle (11/8 7:00 p.m.) that signal love, are metaphors for life, simply metaphysical, and one that we’re not quite sure about.

Presenting these themes gives us the opportunity to look at musicals we don’t get to use that often as well as familiar works. Along with some familiar shows like “Guys and Dolls,” “Bells Are Ringing,” “Hairspray,” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” we’ve got “bell songs” from “Greenwillow,” “Starting Here, Starting Now,” “The Look of Love,” and “Charlie Girl.”

It’s all about “The Bells! The Bells!” on this week’s program, and we hope you’ll join us this Sunday evening.
