Once upon a time—long before rock stars and TikTok—there were singers so famous that composers wrote arias just for them. Their voices had a quality like no other! This concert brings you back to that time in history as we features countertenor Filippo Mineccia accompanied by a string ensemble. Hear forgotten treasures by J.C. Bach, Handel, Porpora, Broschi, and Pergolesi. Expect drama, heartbreak, elegance, and some serious vocal gymnastics. It’s Baroque music like you’ve never heard it before!https://www.capitalphilharmonic.org/

An elemental celebration of earth, fire, and storm. Veljo Tormis’s Raua Needmine (Curse Upon Iron) invokes ancient Estonian incantations; Gilda Lyons’ Momotombo channels volcanic power; and Eric Whitacre’s Cloudburst unleashes a choral thunderstorm with bells, thunder sheets, and clapping rain. The program culminates in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, a thunderous celebration of fate, fortune, and desire, whose unforgettable O Fortuna remains one of the most exhilarating moments in music.
